Between 21,000 and 7,000 years ago, the large ice sheets that were covering North America and Northern Europe retreated due to natural cycles in the Earth’s orbit and the increase in CO2. The progressive warming and rise in sea level during this period was punctuated by abrupt climate and sea level changes, which are poorly understood. This project aims at simulating changes in ice sheets and climate during this period, with complex parallel models, to understand the processes that lead to these abrupt events.
